Canada’s food safety gets poor grade

Canada’s Food Inspection Agency has received the lowest grade from U.S. experts during a recent audit.

We got an “adequate”, the lowest of three scores handed out to countries eligible to export food to the U.S.

The Globe And Mail reports, that low score means Canadian exports will have to undergo more rigorous inspections at the U.S. border than countries whose food safety systems scored as average or well-performing.

The Federal Government has recently announced better oversight and more inspections of food production facilities.
