The big topic Tuesday, at the Priorities and Finance Committee meeting was snow and ice removal.
The city also clarifying some of the information Monday, about their residential removal plans.
Crews will assess all roads and decide whether all that’s needed is blading, to level off the snow, plowing to push the snow to the curb or full on snow removal, the most expensive option.
Mayor Naheed Nenshi says this isn’t a regular year.
“Since December 2, we’ve had about three and half times the normal amount of snow, and we actually haven’t had seven days between snowfalls. So, clearly the accumulation in a lot of residential neighbourhoods has gotten crazy,” he said.
The city estimates they’ve used all but about $600,000 from the 2013 snow removal budget.
They are now on 2014 numbers and say the removal plan will cost $6.7-million, or about $240,000 a day.
