Dire need for blood donation

Alberta first responders are rolling up their sleeves to donate blood over the next three weeks and they’re asking us to do the same.
Police, Fire and E.M.S. personnel are rallying the troops for the annual Sirens for Life campaign in partnership with Canadian Blood Services.
Winn Rathburn with the agency says the annual campaign is extremely important to Alberta patients as 12 thousand donations are required in Alberta (five thousand of those in Calgary) over the next three weeks to meet demand at a time of year when donations tend to typically drop off.
“People take a little while to ramp up to what’s their typical habit of donating blood, but in particular at this time, on a national level, we are looking for ‘O’ Negative donors to step back up to the plate and help us,” she says.
Citizens are encouraged to join emergency workers in this massive life-saving exercise.
