Elbow Park School to be demolished

Elbow Park School will have to be rebuilt from the ground up; that’s the decision of trustees at the Calgary Board of Education, months after the flood severely damaged the 88-year-old building.

Officials say the structure is in risk of collapsing and trying to repair it would cost around 55 per cent more than starting from scratch.

Rebuilding will also allow them to better prepare for and protect against future floods.

It will take a few years to build the new school.

No word on how much it will cost to construct.
