Two suffer minor burns in NE kitchen fire

A safety warning from fire crews after two people had to be taken to hospital with burns on their hands and feet in a kitchen fire in the northeast.

Firefighters responded to a home in the 6700 block of 26th Ave NE early Wednesday.

The homeowners had tried to extinguish a blaze themselves before crews arrived, and recieved minor injuries.

The fire caused extensive damage to the kitchen, and smoke damage throughout the house.

The fire department warns if there is a fire in your home, get to safety and wait for help, and don’t try and put it out yourself.
