Calgary flight slides off runway in Saskatoon; no injuries

Fifty-two passengers aboard Air Canada Flight 8588 from Calgary to Saskatoon had a bumpier landing than usual late Thursday afternoon.

Officials with the airline have confirmed to 660News, a Q-400 slid off the runway 100 feet at approximately 5 p.m. Calgary time.

There were no injuries and everyone on board was taken by bus to the terminal.

The aircraft doesn’t appear to be damaged and it’s still in the snow waiting for clearance to be moved.

John Coppreau with the Transportation Safety Board says Air Canada has notified them of the incident.

He said “The report was that the aircraft didn’t have any braking on landing and it slid on the runway and missed the taxi.”

Coppreau added they haven’t yet deployed any investigators yet, but they are gathering information.
