A violent night in Calgary’s northeast

A busy Saturday night for emergency crews, dealing with two violent incidents in neighbouring communities.
Falconridge was the site of a stabbing; while in Castleridge, someone opened fire on a vehicle and a house.
The first incident happened just before midnight. Crews were called to Falmere Way to respond to reports of a stabbing and an assault.
Duty Inspector Mike Watterston said they arrived at a party, where things had gone awry.
“We received a call of a male having being stabbed in the neck,” Watterston said. “Units attended, we located a victim at the front of the residence, and we were able to take two offenders in to custody.”
Police say the knife nicked his artery and the victim had to undergo surgery in hospital. He was listed in stable condition Sunday morning.
Then, around 1 a.m., police say gunshots rang out along Castlebrook Rise.
Three rounds hit a vehicle and two of those struck the side of a home. No one was injured.
Police say this was not a random attack.
The investigations for both of these cases are ongoing.
