Red Cross reflects on Haiti disaster response

Sunday marked the four-year anniversary of the massive earthquake in Haiti, which killed 300,000 people, and left millions homeless.
The Canadian Red Cross is still working hard to help the country get back on its feet.
The organization’s Calli Forbes said more than $212 million has been received from Canadians, and there is still plenty to do with that money.
“As we move into this rebuilding phase, the Canadian Red Cross has been working on a shelter project.” said Forbes. “We are able to provide more than 19,000 families with shelters that either meet or exceed the construction standards,” she said.
Forbes added they are also focused on health, by helping in the rebuild of a hospital and four health centers.
The Red Cross’ 10-year-plan is split up into three stages.
They are currently transitioning from the second step of “recovery,” into “long-term development.”
