Latest winter havoc around the city

It’s not going to be a fun drive home.
Monday’s storm is expected to bring five to ten cms of blowing snow to Calgary and meteorologist David Spence said it’s going to produce reduced visibility in open areas.
“Highway travel will likely become quite difficult thought much of the afternoon with snow and blowing snow, cutting visibility due to a north wind at 30 km/hr gusting to 60 km/hr,” he said.
Spence added it won’t be overly cold as the temperature will fall to about minus-3 and thankfully it’s a fast-moving system and should be done later in the afternoon and clear by the evening.
City road crews are fanning out along priority one and two routes ahead of the storm.
Spokesperson Julie Yepishina-Geller said they will be laying down some salt to improve traction.
“Particularly focusing on bridge decks, ramps, hills, known trouble spots where we know that snow does tend to accumulate,” she said.
The City said Monday’s road clearing work won’t disrupt snow removal efforts in residential neighbourhoods.
