Deloitte Canada releases top tech trends for 2014

Expect to spend more time on the couch, because more and more Canadians are expected to double up on their TV services, paying for both traditional and at least one online television service like Netflix.
The tech expert on Breakfast Television Mike Yawney says he’s not surprised because when it comes to television we have become a binge watching society.
Yawney says people want to watch their favourite shows, often entire seasons at once, which is something online services can provide, but we don’t want to watch those shows on our computer screen.
Before the end of the year, Deloitte expects more than 2.5 million Canadian households will have multiple subscriptions.
The second big prediction for the remainder of the year, an increasing number of seniors will buy and use smartphones both globally and in Canada.
Rounding out the top three is eVisits, which is an electronic alternative to face-to-face visits for basic medical diagnoses.
Such visits amount to filling out online forms that are reviewed by doctors and nurses,
Deloitte predicts there will be 75 million such eVisits in North America this year, producing potential savings of more than $3-billion compared to in-person doctor visits.
Among other things to watch are an expected proliferation of wearable electronic devices.
