CAC issues avalanche warning

The warm weather has prompted the Canadian Avalanche Centre, Parks Canada and K-Country public safety to issue wide ranging avalanche warnings from Friday through Monday.
The centre believes the warm conditions will destabilize the snow-pack, which will lead to more avalanches, and they’re worried the sunshine and mild weather will lure more people out.
CAC forecaster Karl Klassen told 660News, if you don’t have training, go to a ski hill and not the backcountry.
“Recreate in areas where this avalanche hazard is managed by professionals so in ski areas boundaries in guided groups where profession is looking after the avalanche risk for you those are the kind of activities we recommend for people with very little training and not very much experience,” Klassen said.
Klassen advised even those with avalanche training they should stay on simple terrain.
