Charges laid in distraction thefts

Police have laid more than 40 charges in relation to a series of distraction thefts at Calgary businesses.
In each of the cases since March, two or three people enter a store and one distracts the clerk, while the others steal electronics, cell phones, and cash.
Jessica Fletcher, 25, of Calgary, has been charged with seven counts of theft of property under $5,000. She will next appear in court on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014.
Jocelynn Saliba, 24, of Calgary, has been charged with nine counts of theft under $5,000, 25 breaches of recognizance, as well as eight criminal warrants and two Traffic Safety Act warrants. She appeared in court on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014.
The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending against a third person.
