Charges pending in NW hit and run

“Charges are likely” as Calgary police have apprehended a suspect in a northwest hit-and-run Saturday, that sent a 92-year-old man to hospital.
Stuart Brideaux, Spokesman for EMS, said they were called around 11:45 a.m. to 48th Avenue and 83rd Street Northwest.
“Fortunately there was nobody else injured at the scene but we did take the one patient to the Foothills Hospital in serious and stable condition,” said Brideaux.
According to police reports, a blue and silver half-ton truck had backed up, hitting the elderly man, and then left the scene.
Duty Inspector Michael Waterston confirmed to 660News just after 12:30 p.m. the suspect had been found.
“The person didn’t stop to render any assistance reversing,” said Waterston.
“We were able to locate the offender and his vehicle because we did have witnesses at the scene along with the plate numbers, et cetera, so we do have the driver in custody.”
Waterston said Criminal charges are pending as the file has been given to traffic investigators.
