The Foothills Soccer Centre in the southeast experienced an emergency shut down on Saturday night.
This, after someone on the field kicked a soccer ball into the ceiling and 660’s Craig Lester was playing there and called the newsroom with details.
He says, “During the middle of the second half of the game, there was a ball that was kicked up into the ceiling and it went off one of the sprinklers and this little sound go off and I thought it was a condenser or a heater that the ball had hit and I looked up and a sprinkler had been hit by the ball and it busted it open.”
The water started to pool in the centre feild and started to spread into the adjoining fields as well.
Many got wet, but there were no injuries.
There’s no word yet on the damage, but the facility will remained closed until further notice.
