Boroweic to be sentenced

A Calgary woman who left two babies to die in a dumpster, and almost killed a third one, will be sentenced Wednesday.

Meredith Boroweic was originally charged with second degree murder in the deaths of two babies in 2008 and 2009.

That charge was reduced to infanticide, which carries a maximum penalty of five years.

Boroweic pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of aggravated assault earlier this month for abandoning a third baby in a dumpster in 2010.

The father of the child, who was unaware his girlfriend was pregnant, rescued the baby from the trash.
