Canmore Civic Centre flood

It’s a soggy council chambers and mayor’s office in Canmore, after a pipe burst in the town’s Civic Centre, causing significant flooding.

Sally Caudill, with the Town of Canmore, tells 660News, a pipe in the women’s bathroom burst in the early hours Friday, sending water gushing through the building and outside.
She said the icy streets are being dealt with but some city operations are affected.
“We can’t update our website and the phone lines aren’t working and we don’t have email. Fortunately for us, one of our IT staffers happens to also be a paid response firefighter. He was one of the first people on site and was able to quickly move some of the equipment,” said Caudill.

The extent of damage isn’t known, but Caudill said it looks like there could be problems with carpets and drywall and maybe some conduits in the floor.

The ice rink around the building caused by the flooding has been mostly cleared up and Caudill said all of downtown Canmore is open.
