Oldest child more likely to have weight problems: study

If you have trouble losing weight, maybe it’s because you are the oldest child in the family?

A new study finds eldest sons tend to be heavier in middle age than their young siblings, and they also have a tougher time processing sugar, which puts them at greater risk of diabetes.

New Zealand researchers say during a woman’s first pregnancy, the arteries that feed the placenta are not yet fully matured, so baby could be programmed to gain weight more easily.

The study is in the Journal Scientific Reports.
