Enbridge releases video disputing Northern Gateway disapproval poll

Enbridge is on the attack, after a poll released this week by environmental groups found many in British Columbia are opposed to the Northern Gateway pipeline project.
The company claims in a video released Sunday morning, the poll questions were misleading.
“How did the activists get the result they wanted? They misrepresented the facts,” the video said, claiming the questions implied the public wasn’t consulted and overlooked a promise to keep supertankers out of the B.C. inner water passes.
“We committed during the JRP process not to use the Grenville Channel and Laredo Sound, the inside passage. This commitment was made to the same activists who commissioned this poll,” the video continued.
The video also said the joint review process was the most thorough and exhaustive the country has ever seen.
But, activists say the poll is nothing new.
Ben West with ForestEthics Advocacy said activists have used the exact same questions throughout the campaign to try and get a sense of where people stand.
“This is similar to me in a sense of the propaganda video that they put out where they showed all those missing islands, Enbridge seems to have their own version of the truth,” he said.
West added Enbridge didn’t raise any concerns when the poll was previously used.
The federal government will make a decision later this year about the $6.5 billion pipeline project set to carry bitumen from Alberta to Kitimat.
