B.C. men challenging marijuana law

Two B.C. men are leading a charter challenge against a federal law banning clubs that provide medical marijuana.

The two men say the federal law that bans “compassion clubs” is depriving sick people the ability to get “well-tested and reliable pot” for pain.

The National Post reports Carl Anderson and Wesley Jenkins ran a similar club in 2011 and were charged by RCMP with drug trafficking.

The pair say banning such clubs is driving people to buy drugs off the street.

It’s estimated dozens of technically illegal dispensaries are currently operating across the country.
