A rainbow flag is now flying in front of SAIT for the first time since the school was built.
The flag was raised Tuesday morning in front of Heritage Hall before the campus’ first ever Pride Awareness Day gets underway Wednesday.
Tegan Cochran, president of the SIAT Student Association, tells 660News it is important to show their support.
“It’s an incredible achievement for our campus and for our community as a whole. This is our 98th [year] as an institution so it’s pretty incredible that it has taken this long to get up but now that it’s up we can be proud,” said Cochran.
Last week, city hall raised a rainbow flag to show solidarity with the gay community as the Olympics got underway in Russia.
