A challenge out of Winnipeg has Calgary cyclists gearing up for a group ride to city hall Friday.
Local cyclists will be taking part in “Winter Bike to Work Day.”
Kimberley Nelson with Bike Calgary explains they want to get as many registrants as they can.
“It’s a friendly competition,” she said. “Winnipeg basically called us out and we broke their server when we all tried to register at the same time.”
Nelson says while Calgary’s winter bike traffic is only about a third of what it is during the summer, according to a study on the 7th Street Cycle Track, she hopes Friday’s event will show the strength of the local cycling community.
