Busy day at the border

More than 2,500 travellers are expected to enter Canada on Monday, at the Coutts crossing in southern Alberta.
The Canada Border Services Agency expects this Family Day to be busier than last year’s, due to the nice weather.
Communications officer, Sean Best, says they have a full compliment of staff on duty, but he’s hoping travellers also help cut down on wait times.
“It can take significant time if they’ve made an abundance of purchases, and they’re at the officer and then they’re trying to add up their purchases at that point,” said Best.
Canadians must declare the total value of purchases, and back the claim with receipts.
Best adds the longest waits are expected late Monday afternoon, and early in the evening.
