Asteroid flies past Earth

While you were sleeping, an asteroid the size of three football fields whizzed past the earth.

Its speed was clocked at over 43,000 km an hour, and it comes just over a year after an asteroid exploded over Russia, injuring 1200 people.

The website for an observation centre in Dubai crashed because of the number of people who logged in to see it go by.

Scientists called it “potentially hazardous”, but it went by without any impact.
