Researchers at the University of Pennsylvania have found a use for selfies, beyond posting them to Instagram.
They now believe photos could help dermatologists evaluate patients in remote areas for skin cancer and other conditions.
The doctor could then arrange to see the patient in person if their exam sparked concern, and could offer guidance to medical professionals nearby.
The study is in the journal of the American Medical Association Dermatology.
