Edmonton LRT riders recruited for jury duty

It was definitely not the lunch break most were expecting.

In a last minute, rare move to get a trial started, an Edmonton judge dispatched court sheriffs to an LRT station Thursday.

The officers were ordered to hand out summons to transit users over the age of 19.

Forty people were selected for a jury pool to fill only two vacancies, and most were allowed to leave a short time later.

Each were given a piece of paper for their parking and $11 for lunch.
