Support for Redford falling: Poll

A new poll suggests Alberta’s premier still has a lot of political baggage following that expensive travel tab to take in Nelson Mandela’s funeral in December.
A recent survey has found support for Redford has tumbled from 32 per cent in the fall to 20 percent today.
Disapproval over the spending of $45,000 to get herself and an aide to South Africa is getting most of the blame.
The Leger survey has found 34 per cent of Albertans think the premier should foot the bill for her trip with 45 per cent saying she should at least cover a portion of the cost.
Leger Vice President Ian Large says even though the premier has been under attack, the leaders of the other parties have not really cashed in on her mis-fortune, adding no provincial politicians are as popular as Calgary’s mayor.
“Before the municipal election we polled about Mayor Nenshi and I think he was about 80 per cent. So none of the leaders are hitting it out of the park,” shares Large.
He says Redford has plenty of time to turn around both her and her party’s fortunes, with another 18 months before the next election.
And it starts with the tabling of the new budget Thursday.
