Go to bed early tonight; it’s the best way to avoid the effects of the lost hour when we turn clocks forward for Daylight Saving Time this weekend.
Dr. Charles Samuels from The Centre for Sleep and Human Performance in Calgary, says making sure you get a good night’s rest on a regular basis will help ease the impact of the lost hour.
He tells 660News, a lot has changed in the past 100 years.
“At the time Daylight Saving Time was conceived we didn’t have technology, and technology plays a huge role in why people are chronically sleep deprived,” he said.
Samuels adds, you should stow the electronics away for the night between 6 and 8 p.m.; it’s especially important for children, who could be in for chronic sleeplessness if they don’t get a break from their phones, game consoles and computers.
We turn the clocks forward an hour early Sunday morning.
