School bus catches on fire

Twelve children are safe after their school bus went up in flames Wednesday morning.
Just after 8 a.m., the bus driver noticed smoke coming from the dash of the vehicle, which was on 1st Street and 24th Avenue NE.
Carol Henke, public information officer for the Calgary Fire Department, said luckily the driver acted fast.
“She just happened to have pulled over close to a school, so she got the kids into the school, so that they were warm and were under supervision. When she basically went back to the bus, it was on fire,” she said. “When fire crews arrived, it was fully involved. So, it’s been completely destroyed.”
Fire crews are crediting the driver of the bus for helping to prevent any injuries.
