Three care home workers are now charged with the assault of a an elderly man in his 90s.
Maria Dumo, 36, Angelina Borja, 36, and May Casimero, 37, all worked at the Carewest in Garrison Green in the southwest.
Staff Sgt. Ray Ayliff said the victim’s family became concerned with how he was being treated and called officials.
It’s believed it was an isolated case.
“We have nothing to suggest there’s other victims at this time. Elder abuse, like any other crime, in my opinion, is an underreported crime, so it doesn’t have to happen in a care facility. It can happen anywhere,” he said.
Ayliff said the victim is still in the care home and the family is pleased with how the home handled the investigation.
The trio were removed from duty and are charged with common assault
They are due to make their first court appearance April 23rd.
