Parents appeal changes at West Springs school

Parents at West Springs Elementary School are upset with a decision that will move Grades 5 and 6 to another school.

A group will be appealing to the Calgary Board of Education Tuesday afternoon, to stop the school from becoming just Kindergarten to Grade 4.

They say it violates the CBE’s student accomodation planning process, that they weren’t consulted, and that moving the kids at Grade 5 and then at Grade 7 again is detrimental to learning.

The CBE announced last week all Grade 5’s and 6’s would be headed to Rosscarrock School beginning in 2016, to deal with overcrowding problems.
