Roof collapse at Three Hills Arena shuts down programs

It could have been extremely dangerous, but luckily no one was hurt.

The roof at the arena in Three Hills partially collapsed Wednesday.

Tim Shearlaw, the Mayor of Three Hills says it’ll take some time to get it fixed.

“The renovations will most likely take until mid-summer,” says Shearlaw. “So all of our activities at this point have been moved to other regional facilities.”

The most used will be Trochu; which will take care of the Three Hills lacrosse program and some left over hockey games.

The Mayor adds most of the damage will be covered, but there is still a cost.

“Very rough estimate is set at half a million dollars, and then it looks like we’ll be increasing the number of cross beams, it would probably be $50-$60-thousand dollars, that’s worst case scenerio,” says Shearlaw.
