Fire crews respond to blaze at SW school

Firefighters have snuffed out a small blaze at a southwest Calgary school Wednesday night.
The blaze broke out around 7:30 p.m. at the Calgary Christian School at 49th Street and 28th Avenue, S.W. and was limited to the exterior.
Battalion Chief Allan Ball tells 660News, the fire broke out between two portables which likely would have gone up in flames rapidly if the blaze hadn’t been spotted as soon as it was.
He says, “I believe it was a passerby spotted this and called because the teacher that was in the school didn’t see it and because it never went into the school; the alarm system didn’t activate, so we weren’t alerted that way. It was a passerby that alerted us.”
No one was hurt and investigators are still trying to determine a cause.
