Toupee for a Day campaign reaches halfway mark

The “Toupee for a Day” campaign is heading into its last week to raise funds for cancer patients.

The event, back on March 5th, saw Calgarians wear a multi-coloured ‘toupee’ kicking off a month-long fundraising and awareness effort for Wellspring Calgary.

Suzan Valenta with Wellspring tells 660news, the money raised will help improve the quality of lives for cancer patients.

“We’re the only centre of its kind in western Canada that provides day-to-day support for people who are actually living with cancer, to help them through the body, mind and spirit that cancer and its treatments can have on a person,” says Valenta.

The campaign is now just about half way to reaching this year’s goal of $100-thousand dollars.

The kids at McKenzie Lake Elementary raised more than $3-thousand through their own event.
