PM Harper supporting Rob Anders

Rob Anders has the Prime Minister on his side.
The Calgary-West MP will have to beat former MLA Ron Liepert to keep his seat in parliament.
Harper released a statement supporting Anders and his re-election bid.
His support for Anders is something Mount Royal University political scientist Keith Brownsey found surprising.
“Mr. Anders is a very controversial individual. By associating himself with Mr. Anders, Mr. Harper could do himself some damage” he said.
The controversial MP released a statement saying he and Harper will always “fight against tax and spend liberals like Liepert and his good friend Alison Redford”.
Ron Liepert said Anders can’t campaign on his record so he is going on the attack.
“He has to throw out allegations against everybody and run and seek the endorsement of the Prime Minister,” he said.
Liepert said he is ready for a fight for the seat.
