Unique art piece designed to engage Barb Scott Park visitors

A new and interactive sculpture will enhance the visitor experience at the future Barb Scott Park downtown in the Beltline on 12th Avenue and 9th St. S.W.
Dubbed ‘Chinook,’ installation of the public art piece will start on Monday.
City of Calgary Culture Manager, Sarah Iley, said the $370,000 sculpture will have an additional feature during the reveal.
“It has obviously light and colour, but in talking to local artists, the notion was to bring music to the piece as well, so I understand there’s a composition being created and for the unveiling, there will be a musical element added,” she said.
Park users will be able to manipulate lighting sequences with a wave of a hand and the piece will also serve as a beacon light.
The park will officially be unveiled on June 13th.
