Public invited to Jon Lord service downtown

Calgarians are invited to celebrate the life of Jon Lord at a public memorial Wednesday.
The service is at 1:00 p.m. at the Central United Church, at 131 7th Ave. S.W.
Lord passed away after suffering a massive heart attack last week.
Infrastructure Minister Ric McIver is expected to speak at the memorial, as well as Councillor Peter Demong.
There will also be a slideshow to highlight the former alderman’s career.
The businessman is the third former alderman to pass away recently, after Sue Higgins and Barb Scott.
Lord served in the legislature as a Progressive Conservative under Ralph Klein and was a mayoral candidate in the last two Calgary elections.
