Calgary has priciest parking in Canada

You may want to think about this before taking a job that has you working in the core: Calgary drivers pay more for downtown parking than anywhere else in Canada!
According to a new survey from Cushman and Wakefield, the average monthly parking bill in our city is $473; that’s double the national average at $251.
It’s not surprising for a lot of Calgarians, they tell 660News they aren’t happy with what they have to pay on a daily or monthly basis.
Dwight comes to downtown Calgary for business; he had to pay $42 for just a few hours parking.
“You know, I’m not here all the time. I don’t live here but it is probably the most expensive place I go to, for sure,” he said.
Derek said he had to pay $55 for the day so he could get to work early.
“Even if you park down here 10 days a month in this parking lot, you’re looking at over $500; which for the majority of people would be half of their weekly income for at least two weeks,” he said.
The most expensive parking spot in Calgary is at the Westin Hotel Parkade and runs for $775 per month.
In North America, only New York City tops Cowtown for average downtown parking rates.
