Paving equipment and materials helped contribute to a garage fire on Friday, one that could be seen across the city thanks to the amount of heavy black smoke in Calgary’s southwest community of Rosscarrock.
Fire spokesperson Carol Henke says crews were called to a double-garage and were greeted by a fully involved building in the 4400-block of 13th Avenue, S.W. before 1:30 p.m.
“On arrival, fire crews saw huge plumes of thick black smoke, as well as flames,” said Henke, “and within minutes, the enitire roof collapsed.”
Some extra resources were brought in to help knock down the blaze which took about thirty minutes.
Nobody was hurt and some nearby buildings suffered minor heat and smoke damage.
