Alberta’s Premier says he’s looking at “winding down” the PC Party’s undisclosed trust fund.
The Wildrose were the latest to ask about the fund in Question Period Monday.
The Tories are the only party allowed to have a trust and not have to reveal how much is in it.
Dave Hancock says it needs to be looked at.
“Every year when the financial statements come out, people fuss about the existence of the fund and really the fund only exists for one reason. There was money in the bank at the time it was transitioned to the Election Finances Contributions Disclosure Act, and they had to do something with it and they put it in a trust. And the income from that trust comes into the party every year,” Hancock said.
He adds he wants the bank account to be as transparent as possible, so that the public sees there’s nothing to be concerned about.
