The key to longevity may be forgiving yourself: study

If you want to live a long and healthy life, don’t be so hard on yourself.

Researchers in New York have found people who are willing to forgive themselves for mistakes appear to suffer less of the physical damage caused by stress.

There seems to be a connection between a self-compassionate attitude and lower levels of stress-induced inflammation, which can increase the risk of infection and lead to heart disease, cancer and alzheimers.

The study is in the Journal Brain, Behaviour and Immunity.
