Wheatland County under high level water alert

Officials are warning the public to avoid rivers, valleys and low lying areas until further notice in Wheatland County after they issued a high water level alert on Wednesday night.
Crews have closed some area roads out of concerns of overland flooding.
County Reeve and Division 6 Councillor Glenn Koester tells 660News it’s pretty typical to see these water levels at this time of year.
He’s more concerned about the coulees.
“There was a lot of snow, especially in the north end of the county and it travels south and east into the rest of the county,” says Koester.
The alert is urging residents who live in the affected area to be aware of areas that are known to flood easily such as streams, drainage channels and canyons.
It adds those in Wheatland should take all necessary precautions.
At this stage, Koester says there doesn’t appear to be any personal property at risk.
