Winter tire season ending

Chances are it will snow again, but you can probably get your winter tires taken off, anyway.
Don Szarko with The Alberta Motor association tells 660News, when it gets warmer than minus 7, the winter rubber is a lot less effective.
“The winter tires have softer rubber compounds, and they tend to be a little sloppier than all season radials or summer tires, which are intended for the warmer weather,” he said. “Most people are starting to change over their winter tires,” he added. “Yes, we will probably get some snowfall yet, but for the most part if you drive carefully, we are into spring and roads will be mostly bare and dry.”
Another challenge right now is all the sand and gravel on the roads.
Szarko said it’s hard to avoid chips or cracks in your windshield, but his best advice is to try to ease on the gas at intersections, so you don’t spray the car behind you.
He says the gravel also makes it tough for cyclists and motorbikes, because they have less traction.
