Motorcycle crash kills young man in Calgary’s northwest

A 24-year-old man has died after crashing a motorcycle Saturday night in the 100 block of Panamount Heights Northwest.
Police say he’d been test driving the bike, hit a patch of gravel, lost control and hit a light standard.
The man was rushed to hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
Inspector Nancy Farmer says it’s a dangerous time of year.
“The sun starts shining and the motorcycle enthusiasts want to get out there on their bike,” says Farmer. “We just have to remind people to watch out for that pea gravel because it can be extremely slippery.”
The victim was wearing a helmet and protective jacket.
It’s believed speed and driver error contributed to the crash.
In a separate incident, a 30-year-old man was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries after a motorcycle crash on Highway 7.
It happened southwest of Okotoks at around 3:30 Saturday afternoon.
The victim is now in stable condition.
