Puppy or kitten chow, a collar, a licence…
There’s a list of things to pick up when you’re getting a new puppy or kitten but there’s one thing you might not think of.
Pet insurance.
The ideal time to sign up for a plan is when your pet is young but even if they’re not, it’s still a good idea.
C.A.R.E. Centre Medical Director Dr. Danny Joffe says, these days people expect the same quality of care for their pets as they do for themselves.
“Unfortunately, that comes with an expense and modern veterinary care is much more expensive than it used to be. People with insurance have the ability, when their pet becomes ill or has an accident, that they can take the financial aspect out of the equation. They can make decisions for their pet just based on quality of life,” says Joffe.
Since more and more people are signing up for policies, Joffe says it’s making the cost more affordable than it has been in the past.
