Police investigating hateful graffiti painted on Calgary synagogue, schools

Police are looking for three people responsible for racist and offensive graffiti on several buildings in the south.
Investigators say a swastika was painted on a Jewish Synagogue in the 500 block of Woodpark Boulevard SW on April 21.
Four other southeast schools were hit in Acadia, Parkland, and Maple Ridge late last week; one tagged with the word ‘swastika’.
Sgt. Bill Dodd says this kind of vandalism is taken very seriously.
“Swastika is generally understood for people. They know what that means. The fact that it was on schools and certainly on a Synagogue, would lead us to consider these hate crimes,” he said.
Dodd adds there is a special hate crime charge for graffiti painted on religious property.
Anyone with information on the culprits is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers.
