A 47-year-old man from Nanaimo, B.C. has been formally charged in connection with a fatal shooting Wednesday at a sawmill.
Kevin Douglas Addison is charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder.
He remains in custody and is to appear in Nanaimo court on Thursday.
The tragedy at the Western Forest Products sawmill claimed the lives of two men, 61-year-old Michael Lunn and 53-year-old Fred McEachern.
A third man was taken to Victoria and listed in critical condition and a fourth taken to a local hospital.
R-C-M-P Superintendent Mark Fisher says police believe the attack began in the parking lot and then moved into the mill’s offices.
Fisher declined to speculate about what may have motivated the attack, adding that police believed the shooter acted alone.
Don Demens, president of Western Forest Products, confirms the suspect is a former worker, but declined to
reveal when the man left the company or under what circumstances.
