Thomas Lukaszuk enters PC leadership race

Alberta’s jobs minister wants a new job.
   
Thomas Lukaszuk has declared himself the third candidate to replace Alison Redford as leader of the Alberta Progressive Conservatives.
   
The Edmonton member of the legislature met with interim Premier Dave Hancock before making his announcement and resigning his cabinet post.
   
One-time federal cabinet minister Jim Prentice has the support of a large number of Tory legislature members and is widely considered the front-runner.
   
Former Alberta infrastructure minister and Calgary alderman Ric McIver has also announced his intention to run.
  
Candidates have until the end of the month to submit their paperwork and pay a $50,000 nomination fee.
