The Calgary motorcyclist who was killed in a crash with a deer Friday morning braked for about 20 metres before striking the animal.
At approximately 5 a.m., the 56 year old was traveling northbound in the deep south in the 21800 block of Macleod Trail when the deer stepped onto the road and the man could not stop in time.
He and the deer both died on scene.
Police say it does not appear speed or alcohol were factors in the crash.
The Calgary Police Service Traffic Section is investigating the incident. Any witnesses to the collision or the events leading up to it are asked to contact the Traffic Section at 403-567-4000.
