For the second time this year, a fire broken out at Iko Industries in the Odgen Industrial Park.
At around 1 p.m. on Tuesday, flames were seen shooting from the shingle manufacturing facility in the 1600 block of 42nd Avenue Southeast. Crews were quickly able to get the blaze under control. There were no injures.
Public Information Officer Carol Henke says even though it was a one-alarm fire, they dispatched plenty of manpower to the scene. “This is a large area, with an industrial complex,” she says. “We always want to err on the side of caution.”
In March, a three-alarm blaze at Iko Industries saw dozens of employees evacuated from the business and several more from surrounding buildings.
That fire broke out in an area that was in the process of being demolished.
