If you’re headed out to the back country, don’t forget the bear spray.
Parks Canada reports well over two dozen sightings in the national parks over the last week.
The bears are looking for food in the low-lying areas after coming out of hibernation.
Special caution is recommended in the Banff Recreation grounds, Cave and Basin area and the Sundance Trail to Healy Creek.
A number of grizzlies have been spotted in those areas along with some sightings right around the Lake Louise townsite and surrounding trails.
Officials recommend carrying bear spray, making noise while on the trails, keeping all pets on a leash and keeping an eye out for any fresh signs of bears.
Parks Canada asks anyone who sees a bear to report it immediately.
